We are excited to announce that ‘Assemble II’ our latest work in the series will be showcased at London Design Festival as part of Sarah Myerscough Gallery's exhibition Material Intelligence, Part of Brompton Design District’s The Practice of Learning programme curated by Jane Withers Studio.

The sculptural works exhibited in Engrained: Material Intelligence showcase the innate properties of wood, drawing out its enduring significance and emotional durability in contemporary design.

Assemble II is made from pieces of air dried green English Oak sourced from the offcuts of offcuts, with the cracks carefully sanded and celebrated, curves and discrepancies scribed perfectly together. The chair has then been fumed to a rich chocolate colour, by utilising this traditional technique we feel we have created the warmest and most inviting colour fit for a modern interior.
We are delighted to be showing this piece alongside some other inspirational work as part of Sarah Myerscough's curated group exhibition at LDF 2024.

The Gallery's aim for this exhibition is to showcase the innate properties of wood, drawing out its history, emotional durability, expressive capacities and continued significance in contemporary design. This is engrained further when we consider its material influence on the design process itself and indeed, the resultant object; to make with wood is to learn from wood, to follow its forces and metamorphosis. Such a process translates in this exhibition to magnificent sculptural pieces, expanding upon historical craft knowledge and bringing it forth into the present. The featured artists are experts in their field, developing their practices through many years of experimentation and refinement. Each approaches wood in a unique way and the exhibition provides a platform to showcase the multiplicity of outcomes available from one powerful material. - Sarah Myerscough Gallery.
